Hoax bomb threats trigger evacuations In Bangalore
Panic gripped two educational institutions in Bengaluru on Tuesday morning after bomb threat emails were sent to RV College of Engineering and Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath. Fortunately, the threats were confirmed to be hoaxes, police said.
Students and staff were swiftly evacuated while bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs conducted thorough checks of the campuses. The precautionary measures were taken after the institutions alerted the authorities upon discovering the emails.
RV College filed a complaint with Kengeri Police, stating they had received two alarming emails on April 21 from an ID named Rajput Sindaar. The subject lines read “Bomb blast in your college” and “Save ur students and principal life from bomb blast.”
Police were alerted around 11 am when the emails were spotted during routine checks. Swift action was taken to secure both institutions, and emergency protocols were activated.
A senior officer confirmed that exhaustive searches yielded no explosives or suspicious materials. “The threats were baseless. We have registered two separate cases and investigations are ongoing to trace the origin of the emails,” he said.
Authorities are treating the matter seriously despite the hoax nature of the threat, emphasizing the strain such incidents place on emergency services and public safety.
