Bengaluru: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah has asked CM B S Yediyurappa to conduct the winter session of the state Legislature in the flood-hit district of Belagavi, stating that it would intensify relief and rehabilitation in the region.
In a letter addressed to CM BSY, Siddaramaiah said, “The flood-affected victims felt relieved when we went to assess the situation. So, a session in Belagavi would be a morale boost for the victims of North Karnataka. I would request B S Yediyurappa to call for a session in Belagavi for 15-25 days instead of 3 days in Bengaluru.”
Alleging that the Central and state governments had not provided adequate measures for the flood-affected, he further said, “People have lost everything and are left with very little hope for the future. As representatives, it is our duty to instil confidence and renew their hope.”
It can be recalled that the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) had organised a protest in Belagavi on September 24.
