Bengaluru: Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai faced embarrassment on Thursday when he was stopped at Attibele checkpost by Tamil Nadu police.
As the TN police were not aware of who was Bommai, it resulted in confusion.
According to the sources, Bommai was in a city round-up with the Commissioner of Police Bhaskara Rao and joint commissioner of police Sandeep Patil.
At Atitibele border, TN police had set up barricades inside the Karnataka border to check the vehicles. When Bommai’s car reached the area, the TN cops stopped it and enquired.
Later, Karnataka police who were on duty rushed and stopped their TN counterparts from further inquiry. Bengaluru Rural SP Ravi Chennannavar, who rushed to spot asked TN cops to remove barricades from the spot.
Channavar stated that the police officials from Tamil Nadu had intruded into Karnataka as there was no shade on the Tamil Nadu side of the border.
He assured that the Tamil Nadu police officials will be cleared from the spot and that it will be controlled by police officials from the district.
