Bengaluru: A doctor approached the Yelahanka police alleging that he was honey-trapped and blackmailed by three persons including a woman for Rs.10 lakhs.
According to the sources, the doctor alleged that the woman became friends with him over Facebook. On June 13, she asked him to join for dinner. “We had dinner together in a hotel on the airport road at 11 pm. When we were returning, two youths stopped us informing us that they are from intelligence police and started demanding money by showing a few pictures. When I said I don’t have money, they fled with Rs.5,000 in my purse. Now they are demanding Rs.10 lakhs or threatening to leak the pictures on social media,” he alleged.
The Yelahanka police launched an investigation. Police requested the public not to accept social media friend requests from unknown persons.
