Bengaluru: The Congress party has pressed for a judicial probe into the Hosapete car accident, in connection with which the name of Revenue Minister R Ashoka’s son is making rounds.
Addressing a news conference, Congress leader Ugrappa said that the police department seems to have been pressurised and misused to shield one influential name.
Two persons lost their lives after a luxury car rammed into a tea stall in Ballari’s Mariyammanahalli on February 10. Ravi Naik, a local teenager and Sachin, one of the five youth reportedly travelling in the car, died in the mishap.
With the minister’s son’s name being linked to the mishap, Ugrappa said that a judicial probe is a must.
Ugrappa said that Sachin’s post mortem was also reportedly done in haste and that the SP has already declared that the minister’s son was not inside the car, even as the probe is still underway.
“I want to question the SP’s statement giving a clean-chit to the person whose name is being linked to the accident,” the Congress leader said and opined that the recent developments around the case evidently point at a strong possibility of the probe being derailed.
“The attitude of the police forces me to believe that the truth will never come out in this case. Hence I am asking for a judicial probe,” he said.
