Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar, 36, was arrested near Pune on Thursday evening for murdering his wife, Gouri Anil Sambrekar, 32, on March 26. He admitted to police that after killing her, he sat beside her body and spoke to it through the night.

Rakesh planned to surrender at Shirwal police station but was caught just before doing so. He confessed that a heated argument over Gouri’s job led to the fatal altercation. She had resigned from her previous role before their move from Maharashtra to Bengaluru and struggled to find new employment.

After the crime, Rakesh misled his tenant, Prabhu Singh, claiming that Gouri had taken her own life and instructed him to alert the landlord and police. However, Singh informed the landlord, who immediately reported it to the police helpline.

Rakesh was working remotely as a senior project coordinator at Hitachi Systems India, while Gouri wished to return to Maharashtra due to her job search struggles. Their frequent disputes over this issue culminated in tragedy.
