Residents of a southeast Bengaluru apartment complex were left stunned after human bones, including a skull, were uncovered during maintenance work. The shocking discovery occurred on June 16 at MN Credence Flora Apartments in New Mico Layout, Begur, while a percolation pit near the parking area was being cleaned.
According to officials, the cleanup was part of regular maintenance after authorities issued multiple notices regarding malfunctioning pits. The skeletal remains were found in the pit located between flats 221 and 321.
Skariya John, president of the apartment’s Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA), filed a complaint with the Begur police, who subsequently registered an Unnatural Death Report (UDR). John informed authorities that the RWA had outsourced the task to external contractors, who stumbled upon the remains during the repair process.
Police have confirmed that the bones, including a human skull, have been sent for forensic examination to determine the identity, age, and cause of death. The report is currently awaited.
This grim find has not only alarmed the apartment residents but also raised serious questions about the circumstances surrounding the remains. Police say they are investigating all possibilities and have not ruled out foul play.
Meanwhile, the area around the pit has been cordoned off, and authorities are examining past complaints or missing person reports from the locality to help identify the deceased.
