Bengaluru: As the Gauri Lankesh murder case inches towards the climax, new sensational information chips in, as the prime accused Parashuram Waghmore from Sindagi reveals his experience during the course of the investigation on Saturday, September 29.
Waghmore is seen telling the reporters, in a video that he has been falsely implicated in the sensational murder case of the journalist.
Waghmore was asked with few crucial questions, which brought out the manner of how the accused, especially he was treated by the investigating officers of the SIT (Special Investigation Team).
Answering to the questions from the barbed windows of the police bus Waghmore said, “The investigation team is trying to fix me with baseless charges. I’m nowhere connected to the case. I have been tortured and threatened. They have said that they would fix my family including parents, wife, and children in the case if I do not accept their version. They have offered me Rs. 25-30 lakh to change my statements and incorporate whatever the investigation team has said.” He further adds, “The officers have told me to sign on the blank paper and have also recorded a video of me narrating their version of the case.”
The accused are further retained under the judicial custody till October 12.
Gauri Lankesh was killed on September 5, 2017. Parashuram Waghmore was arrested by the SIT based on three sketches of two men, in which one it had a close resemblance with Waghmore. Waghmore was arrested on June 12, 2018 from his house at Sindagi, Vijayapura district.
