Bengaluru: Tiptur in Tumakuru District is considered as the cradle of copra production in Karnataka. It is the biggest copra market in entire South India. On Wednesday November 24, I-T officials raided the houses of major copra middlemen including former MLA Nanjamari B.
The raids started in the early morning and continue even on Thursday November 25.
According to the sources, raids were carried out in 10 companies besides residences of major copra dealers.
Following raids, the copra rates fell by Rs.300 per quintal in the Tipatur market.
