Bengaluru: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah has lashed out at the Income Tax department officials as well as the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders for the death of former deputy chief minister Dr G Paramehswar’s personal secretary Ramesh.

Addressing the Assembly during a session on Saturday, October 12, Siddaramaiah criticized the I-T officials saying, “The reason for Ramesh’s death is the I-T officials’ torture, as confessed by him to his friends. He also clearly told his friends that he would commit suicide.”

Slamming the BJP leaders he said, “Is there no one in BJP who has minted money? Don’t their leaders have educational institutions, medical colleges and other institutions running under their name? The IT raids should be conducted on them as well, and I have no objection to this.”

“I completely agree with the duties and responsibilities of the I-T officials and welcome their raids. But it should be apolitical. So far, all the raids have been only on Congress leaders and their close aides. This shows that the BJP is practicing ‘hate politics’ which is not at all ethical. If they want to raid, let them conduct raids on all the leaders’ houses, irrespective of their party affiliation.”

It can be recalled that, former DCM Parameshwar’s personal secretary, Ramesh committed suicide on Saturday, fearing an I-T inquiry in connection with the unaccounted cash recovered from the former. His body was found at the Bangalore University Grounds in Jnana Bharati.
