Bengaluru: Pallavi Akurathi of the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) has written a letter to Chief Secretary Subhash Chandra Khuntia seeking an inquiry into alleged sexual harassment of a woman employee in the State Secretariat.

The employee gave a complaint of alleged sexual harassment on November 2 to the DPAR. Sources said Ms Akurathi has written the letter to the Chief Secretary, expressing her solidarity to a petition signed by a group of women employees alleging sexual harassment.

A total of 49 women employees of the secretariat have signed the letter given to the Chief Secretary seeking a probe into the matter. Sources said that women employees in the secretariat had approached Ms Akurathi, who is Secretary, DPAR (Vigilance), seeking her support. The woman reportedly alleged that the accused used to make comments on her clothes and her looks.

The woman had reportedly lodged a complaint with the committee on safety of women and children headed by Congress MLC V.S. Ugrappa.
