Bengaluru: Karnataka Minister and Congress MLA Priyank Kharge made a straightforward statement, asserting, “Except the four leaders who were part of the meeting in Delhi, nobody else’s words hold significance. High Command should speak.

If High Command asks me to become CM, I will say yes.” Kharge’s statement underscores his deference to the party’s central leadership, emphasizing his readiness to assume the role of Chief Minister if called upon.

On Monday, Kharge accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to destabilize the Congress government in the state. Kharge alleged that a group of “desperate BJP leaders” may have approached Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking Rs 1,000 crore to topple the Congress government. These accusations followed claims by Mandya Congress MLA Ravikumar Ganiga, who stated that a BJP team had approached four Congress MLAs, offering them Rs 50 crore each and a ministerial berth in exchange for switching parties. The allegations have added fuel to the ongoing political tensions between the parties.
