Bengaluru: The Shivajinagar police decided to open a special counter at the Shivajinagar grounds of the city to receive complaints against IMA Jewels, in a case now known as the ‘IMA company scam’ involving over Rs 500 crores. The police took this decision as the number of persons affected by the scam is over 20,000.

Additional police forces have also been deployed to Shivajinagar fearing violence from the investors who were swindled.

The company’s founder, Mohammed Mansoor Khan is still absconding. In his last voice message to the city police commissioner, he alleged that an MLA cheated him to the tune of Rs 400 crores.

Mohammed, in the audio, stated, “By the time you listen to this audio, I would have ended my life… I am in possession of properties worth Rs 500 Crore, gold and diamond jewellery. I request you to sell all that and repay the investors of my company. I also request you to recover my money from the Shivajinagar Legislator and Rs 5 crore which I had lent to BDA Kumar, to pay the investors.”

It can be recalled that Khan’s audio went viral on Monday, sparking widespread panic among his investors. With regard to Khan’s suicide, senior police officials have neither confirmed nor denied the same. They have maintained that he is absconding.
