Bengaluru: More trouble is brewing for the senior police officers of the city in the IMA scam. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the scam, summoned senior IPS officer Ajay Hilori and other officers in connection to the case.
According to the sources, the SIT decided to summon these officials following the finding that police gave clean chit to the company even when it was involved in the Ponzi schemes. “More IPS officers are expected to face problem in the IMA scam. They had allegedly hand in glove with the IMA company directors,” said sources in the city police.
It may be recalled that nine IPS officers from Karnataka are under the Enforcement Directorate’s scanner for their alleged connections with the management of the IMA Ponzi scheme that defrauded around 30,000 people of Rs 3,000 crore in Bengaluru and other parts of the state.
It is said that the officers were bribed to make sure that the police do not crackdown on the scheme. It is also believed that prime accused of the IMA scam Mansoor Ali Khan had made disclosures on the bribes paid to police officers and politicians.
