Bengaluru: Shivajinagar police registered as many as 40,600 complaints in connection with the IMA scam. According to the state police, it is the single largest number of complaints received by them pertaining to any single case.
According to the sources, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has now started an investigation. As per the documents, 40,600 people have lodged complaints against IMA and the total volume of funds swindled stands at Rs.1,547 crores.
“On Monday alone we received 2,000 complaints,” informed Shivajinagar police.
It is also said that the SIT hired the services of 22 goldsmiths to verify the quality of gold recovered from the IMA jewellers.
Notice to CBI: Meanwhile, the High Court issued a notice to the CBI based on a petition submitted by 17 investors seeking CBI investigation into the scam. The matter is now posted for July 28.
