Bengaluru: The high power committee, formed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to oversee the state level solid waste management, proposed a fine on plastic users as well as plastic sellers. This proposal has been sent to the state government with the idea of discouraging the general public from using plastic.

The high power committee chairman Justice Subhash B Adi informed that he will soon write a letter to the government seeking a spot fine on plastic users.

“This proposal has been mooted according to the NGT guidelines,” he stated.

He also stated that the high power committee is proposing a fine on those who do not segregate waste.
