Bengaluru: All India Central Council of Trade Unions (AICCTU) Karnataka unit, in a series of tweets alleged that the state labour department is planning to change the labour laws to benefit the factory owners, who have been demanding increase in working hours to make up for the losses.
In a series of tweets, organisation alleged that the state government is planning to make 12 to 14 hours as the minimum working hours for workers in a day.
However, contradicting clarfications by the Labour Department Secretary and the Labour Minister has made way for more and more confusions.
While Captain P Manivannan, secretary, labour department said that the department has been talking over 72-100 hours extra work hours for three month and clarified that the proposal has been misinterpreted to be for per week, Labour Minister Shivarama Hebbar said that there is no proposal at all.
Replying to the allegations, Shivarama Hebbar informed that there is no proposal of deviating from the labour laws.
