Independent candidates Muniyamma, Muniratna too in RR Nagar by-election arena

Bengaluru: One of the allegations levelled by BJP leaders against RR nagar MLA Muniratna, before he joined the BJP was that he was following all kinds of malpractices to win the election.

In the 2018 state assembly election, then BJP state unit president BS Yediyurappa himself alleged that Muniratna possesses 20,000 fake voter ID cards.

Whether the allegations are true or false, it is for sure that the by-polls is not going to be a cake walk for Muniratna, given the fact that KPCC is led by DK Shivakumar this time.

It is known to all that Muniratna’s victory in RRNagar was largely due to DK Shi and his brother DK Suresh and this time, the DK brothers are using the strategies to defeat Muniratna.

As part of his election strategy, it is believed that DK Shivakumar has fielded two independent candidates- Muniratna and Muniyamma. While nobody knows who they are, sources in the Congress camp say that even if these two independent candidates snatch away 1,000 votes each, BJP’s Muniratna will taste defeat.

The same strategy was used by JDS in 2019 Lok Sabha election in Mandya when Late actor Ambareesh’s wife contested as an independent candidate from Mandya as JDS Scion Nikhil Kumaraswamy was too in fray. The JDS fielded seven persons named Sumalata in the polls. However, it didn’t work.
