Bengaluru: India is not a Hindu rashtra; it is a secular country. The Central Government implemented the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) to make it easy to give citizenship to persecuted minorities in the neighbouring countries. However, anti-BJP elements are creating confusion about the nature of the amended Act, said BJP national general secretary B L Santosh.

Addressing a seminar on the CAA in Mysuru, Santosh, a hard-core RSS leader, said that India will not create any problems for its religious minorities.

“Muslims and Christians are reaching new heights in our country. No one is causing them any trouble. However, unnecessary misinformation is being spread against the BJP,” he said.

“As much as 68% of the beneficiaries of the CAA will be Dalits. They were facing a lot of problems when migrating to India due to persecution in the neighbouring fascist countries,” he explained.

“India is not a Hindu rashtra. It is a secular country. All will be equal here. All will have religious freedom here forever,” he said.

He also made it clear that the Central Government will implement the Act.
