Bengaluru: Shockwaves passed through the Bagalagunte area in Bengaluru, when a 35-year-old woman bus conductor was attacked with acid by two bike-borne men on Friday, December 20.

As per reports, Indira Bai, who works for the state-run Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) as a bus conductor, was on her way to work in the wee hours on Friday when the attack occurred. She was rushed to a private hospital in the city where she is being treated for severe burns on her neck and face.

According to the police, the two unidentified miscreants were waiting for her to walk to her place of work, threw acid on her and fled the scene.

The police have said that they are analysing the CCTV footage of the area and speaking with members of the victim’s family.

Bai’s husband, has informed the police that this is not the first time that her life was put at risk. He told police that a few weeks ago, Bai had met with an accident where she was run over by a vehicle, but she managed to survive with minor injuries. At that time, however, the couple did not file a complaint with the police.

The Bengaluru police have registered a case against the unknown miscreants based on the husband’s complaint. They said that they will be able to link the two incidents only after identifying the miscreants who hurled acid at Bai.
