Bengaluru: High drama prevailed at Vasanthanagara of the city on Sunday night when IPS officer Arun Rangarajan, SP, Kalaburugi held a dharna in front of the residence of his wife Ilakiya Karunakaran.
Ilakiya Karunakaran is serving as a DCP in the city.
According to the sources, both are upright officials, who have earned good name and track record in the state police department.
Both are the 2012 batch officers. The court granted a divorce for them in the year 2015 as they developed a few misunderstanding over family and professional issues.
According to the sources, Rangarajan is a Chhattisgarh cadre officer while Ilakiya is a Karnataka cadre officer. Rangarajan was transferred to Karnataka cadre based on his request to stay with his wife. The couple has two children.
Rangarajan informed that he was forced to hold a dharna as his wife was not allowing him to see his children.
Rangarajan dropped his dharna at 2.30 am after an assurance by the senior cops that the issues will be resolved.
