Irked by unilateral decisions of BSY, BJP old guards turn to central leaders

Bengaluru: The BJP old guards, critical of BS Yeddyurappa’s style of functioning, will unite at the“save the party organisation”, convention to be held on April 27.

As per reports, over 1,000 party old-timers have been invited for the convention which comes close after the BJP suffered a defeat in the assembly by polls in Nanjangud and Gundlupet.

It is gathered that the leaders are demanding actions to ensure that Yeddyurappa follows the party’s tradition and takes everyone into confidence while making a decision. Also, it is alleged that Yeddyurappa was according importance to those who had followed him to the Karnataka Janata Party, while senior party workers were ignored. Favouritism while appointing presidents of some district units too is one of the major allegations made by the angry lot.

The issue had cropped up earlier too with national president Amit Shah suggesting suitable changes be made to the party office-bearers’ list. However, Yeddyurappa had made only minimal changes, it is said.

The leaders of the splinter group have held BSY responsible for the by-poll debacle. The political detractors are expected to make a decision on their future course of action and the ways and means of representing their case before the party central leaders at the Bengaluru convention.
