On Sunday, Madhu Pandit Dasa, the President of ISKCON Bengaluru, voiced serious concerns over the rising violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, urging the Indian government to collaborate with neighboring nations to safeguard the rights of minorities in the region. Addressing a peaceful Sankirtan event at the Hare Krishna Hill, Dasa emphasized the troubling reports of escalating attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh.
“We are deeply alarmed by these reports,” said Dasa. “We call on the Bangladesh government to ensure the protection of Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu, other ISKCON devotees, and all persecuted minority groups. Moreover, we urge the Government of India to take necessary steps in cooperation with neighboring countries to defend the rights of these vulnerable communities.”
The Sankirtan event at the temple was organized as an expression of ISKCON’s unwavering support for the victims and to pray for their safety and peace. Dasa noted that in recent months, Hindu communities in Bangladesh have been targeted, with one of the most recent incidents being the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, a prominent devotee and spokesperson for the Bangladesh Sanatan Jagaran Manch, by Dhaka police.
“Temples are being desecrated, and Sanatana Dharma followers are facing severe threats. Fanatical mobs have also claimed many lives during their violent attacks,” he stated. “These continuous assaults on Hindus and other minority groups must end immediately.”
