Bengaluru:In a big trouble for the JDS probable candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of CM HD Kumaraswamy, Challenging Star Darshan, who has a huge following in Mandya has announced that he will campaign for Sumalatha in Mandya.
“It is my duty to campaign for her,” he told reporters on Wednesday late night.
“I had campaigned for Ambianna. So definitely for Sumalatha,” he said.
Darshan who also hails from Vokkaliga community is expected to swing huge number of votes in favour of Sumalatha if he campaigns.
Sumalatha hinted that she will contest as an independent candidate with outside support from various organisations including the Raitha Sangha. The BJP is expected not to field its candidate in the constituency.
MH Ambareesh, who was a Congress leader died recently and his wife Sumalatha decided to take a plunge into politic.
While the Congress distanced itself from Sumalatha and her decision, the JDS conveniently fielded CM Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil from Mandya considering the popularity that the party enjoys in the region.
