Bengaluru: In an epic prison break that brings to mind famous movie scenes of jail break, a prisoner escaped from Parapanna Agrahara jail on Tuesday, August 30.
Arya alias David (30), who was lodged in the jail from the past three years after being convicted of theft fled in a van transporting vegetables from the open air jail of Koramangala in Devanahalli. It is gathered that additional inspector general of police (prisons), Veerabhadraswamy, has suspended seven police personnel regarding the incident.
David had only one year left to complete his jail term as he was sentenced for four years.
According to sources, David’s entire sequence of escape is captured in CCTV. It is said that he might have carefully planned the escape act. David has reportedly fled on Tuesday morning, but it was noticed only in the evening when officials took the attendance of the prisoners.
David got into the van with vegetables and hid inside a gunny bag. The security staff at the main gate had not checked the van thoroughly as the van comes daily to the prison. David ran away when the vehicle stopped near the entrance.
