Bengaluru: Prison officials giving preferential treatment to AIADMK General Secretary Sasikala Natarajan has evoked strong opposition from jail inmates in Parappana Agrahara jail, Bengaluru.

Sasikala Natarjan broke the jail dress code and has started wearing Churidhars in place of Saris and gets homemade food, they complain.

The prison rules do not permit any inmate to get outside food and change uniform provided by jail authorities to suit his/her liking. Even certain jail staff considers the practice unhealthy and discriminatory, where powerful and influential inmates are given extra importance and exemptions.

Considering the nature of offense, Sasikala is exempted from carrying out hard work. She spends time on gardening during spare time, it is gathered.

Sasikala refuses to bow down

The jail doors are of shortened height where the inmates and officials have to bend down to enter at both entry and exit points. But when it comes to inmates, they are supposed to use the ‘B’ gate to enter their respective barracks. Sasikala is exempted from using B gate as she gets many vistors including advocates, party men and relatives, allege other inmates. Jail Superintendent Anitha accompanies Sasikala whenever she gets visitors and spends time leisurely with them, they complain.

Reacting on few inmates complaint, senior prison officials on said, such exemptions have been given in the past to few inmates and there is nothing uncommon!
