Jail jammers disrupt mobile signals, officials seek quick fix
Residents near Bengaluru Central Jail in Parappana Agrahara have been struggling with mobile signal disruptions due to jammers installed at the facility. In response, officials plan to meet with the concerned agency and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on Tuesday to find a solution.
Following a report highlighting the “digital blackout” caused by prison jammers, a joint inspection was conducted by senior prison officials. Director General of Police, Prisons and Correctional Services, Malini Krishnamoorthy, submitted a report to the Chief Minister’s office, confirming that steps are being taken to resolve the issue.
Telecommunications Consultants India Limited, responsible for managing the jammers, has been instructed to recalibrate their frequency to minimize interference while maintaining prison security. A high-level meeting at the Department of Prisons and Correctional Services headquarters is scheduled to address the matter.
