The Consul General of Japan in Bengaluru, Nakane, has urged students to embrace the Japanese language, highlighting its potential for higher education and career advancement. Speaking at the 40th-anniversary celebrations of Bengaluru City University’s (BCU) Global Languages Centre, he emphasized the longstanding cultural ties between India and Japan and the increasing scope for economic and academic collaboration.
Professor Ashok Kumar Chawla, an advisor to Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussed Japan’s growing demand for skilled Indian professionals due to its declining population. He pointed out that India’s vast talent pool aligns well with Japan’s workforce needs. He also underscored the historical bond between the two nations, rooted in Buddhism.
BCU Vice-Chancellor Professor Lingaraj Gandhi highlighted India’s rapid technological advancements and its demographic advantage, with 60% of its population under 35. Encouraging students to explore Japan’s academic and employment avenues, he noted that BCU’s Global Languages Centre now offers courses in 14 foreign languages, including Japanese.
