Bengaluru: Following the disastrous situation faced by the state, JD(S) leader and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy announced that his party legislators will donate one month’s salary for the relief efforts. The former CM made the announcement on Friday, August 9, according to a report by news agency ANI.
On Thursday, over 198 ward corporators of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) announced that they will donate a month’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Meanwhile, to ensure that there are no hiccups in the relief efforts, the Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Directorate has issued directions not to allow district surgeons and health and family development officers to avail leaves till August 15.
The state is expected to see worse flood situations as yesterday, the India Meteorological Department predicted showers for the next 48 hours with a ‘Red Alert’ warning issued for over seven districts.
