Bengaluru: Nikhil Kumaraswamy JD(S) candidate for Mandya Lok Sabha constituency was trolled immensely in 2019 Lok Sabha election with the phrase’ Nikhil Elliddiyappa’. Now, one of his party ministers CS Puttaraju has come forward to make a film titled the same so as to end the trolling.
The phrase was first coined in 2016 by CM Kumaraswamy during the launch of a music album for the movie title ‘Jaguar’ which was Nikhil’s debut movie.
The phrase was again used by Nikhil’s rivals to troll him when he contested Lok Sabha elections in Mandya where independent candidate Sumalatha was considered his only opponent.
CS Putturaju, JD(S) leader and Mandya district in-charge has expressed his desire to register a film carrying this phrase as the title. He had shared his desire during a JD(S) workers meet in KR Pet where Nikhil was also present. The minister spoke to Nikhil regarding this and suggested that Nikhil should be playing the lead role. But Nikhil replied that he would decide only after the election results.
According to reports, more than five filmmakers had approached Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) last April for permission to acquire the title for their upcoming projects. But the KFCC said that they would approve the title only after reviewing the storyline.
The movie if made would have to wait till the election result on May 23 to cast Nikhil as the hero.
