Bengaluru: Former chief minister and JD(S) president H D Kumaraswamy announced in the Assembly about the JD(S) decision to go to people with the slogan – Abki baar Kumaraswamy sarakar during the Assembly elections in 2018.
Participating in the debate on drought in the Assembly session at Suvarna Soudha in Belgavi, Kumaraswamy said the JD(S) would come to power in 2018 and it would waive off agri loans of farmers. “We want to follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan – Abki baar Modi sarkar – with a little bit change – Abki baar Kumaraswamy sarkar. We will appeal the voters to give us one chance to serve them. I am confident of people electing JD(S) to power,’’ Kumaraswamy said.
Raising the issue of waiving agri loans, Kumaraswamy said that he wanted to take Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s comment on JD(S) as a challenge. “Siddaramaiah said the question of waiving farmers’ loan would not arise since JD(S) will not come to power. I want to accept Siddaramiah’s comment as a challenge,’’ he said.
He also criticized the Central Government for demonetizing Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes without any preparations. “The state government exchequer has lost Rs 15,000 crore revenue due to the demonetization. It will affect the collection of excise duty, stamp duty and road tax,’’ he said.
