Bengaluru: The JD (S) which is struggling to maintain its base in the State has decided to offer its second preference votes in the Rajya election to Congress.
Party leader and former Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy made a decision in this regard.
Earlier, the JD (S) leaders approached the Congress seeking retirement of their second candidate from the contest to make way for the party candidate Kupenda Reddy.
However, Congress leaders declined to do so.
Meanwhile, the BJP classified the votes of CM, ministers and those from the Sangh Parivar to party candidate Nirmala Sitharaman fearing a few MLAs may ditch the party in the election.
Votes of the rest of the MLAs will be divided between Lehar Singh and Jaggesh, two other candidates.
