Bengaluru: Well-known journalist, Hemanth Kumar, who worked with various state media organisations, has been arrested by the CID cyber police in connection with a fake letter created using the letter-head of BLDE University headed by home minister M B Patil.

This fake letter was written under Patil’s name a year ago and Post Card website founder, Mahesh Vikram Hegde made it go viral.

According to sources, during the inquiry, Hegde revealed Hemanth Kumar’s name in connection with the incident. “He has been arrested for the inquiry,” said sources.

Meanwhile, a BJP delegation met with IG-DGP Neelamani N Raju and submitted a memorandum against the journalist’s arrest. BJP leader MLA Suresh Kumar also termed the arrest as an attack on the freedom of the media in the state.
