K’taka Bundh vandalism: HC directs govt to recover expenses from protesters

Bengaluru: In relation to the case of protesters who had allegedly vandalized the public property, resulting in huge financial losses for the Karnataka government, during the ‘Karnataka bundh’, the Karnataka High Court has ordered for recovery of loss from who were involved in vandalism.

The orders were passed by the High Court on Tuesday, February 25, directing the Karnataka government to recover the expenses.

A committee headed by retired judge Mohammad Gaus has been formed as per the orders of the High Court to assess the losses incurred during the protest and submit a report before the court. Based on this, the government will recover money from the protesters.

The court has given six-weeks’ time to provide infrastructural facilities to the damaged public property.

According to the reports, the court has ordered to recover the expenses for the losses incurred in all the Karnatak bundh.
