K’taka records 1,189 new Covid-19 cases, 22 deaths

Bengaluru: On Sunday August 22, Karnataka’s Health Department reported 1,189 new Covid-19 cases and 22 deaths, bringing the overall number of infections and deaths to 29.38 lakh and 37,145, respectively.

There were 20,556 active cases in the State, with 1,456 patients recovered, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 28,80,889.

The Dakshina Kannada district, which borders Kerala, remained the top Covid-19 hotspot, with 286 infections and four deaths.

With 267 cases and two deaths, the Bengaluru urban district was the second greatest Covid hotspot.

So far, 12,35,036 cases and 15,959 deaths have been reported in Karnataka’s capital. There was a total of 7,762 active cases.

Other districts, including 132 in Udupi, 79 in Mysuru, 75 in Hassan, 55 in Kodagu, and 50 in Chikkamagaluru, also recorded Covid-19 cases.

According to the media bulletin, Bengaluru, Dakshina Kannada, Tumakuru, Udupi, Mandya, and Dharwad were among the 14 districts where people died.

Kalaburagi district recorded no cases and fatalities.  Sources also state that there were zero fatalities in 17 districts in Karnataka.

According to the department’s bulletin, 1,25,158 Covid tests were performed on Sunday, with 92,842 RT-PCR testing and other methods.

Karnataka has conducted 4.19 crore Covid tests so far.

On Sunday, 1,50,127 people were vaccinated, bringing the total number of people vaccinated to 3.69 crore. According to the report, today’s positive rate was 0.94 percent, while the case fatality rate was 1.85 percent.
