Kailash bar tragedy: Minister announces compensation for kin of victims

Bengaluru: Minister for Bangalore Development K J George has announced Rs 5 lakh compensation to be given to the families of each of the victims who died in the fire at Kailash bar near Kalasipalya in Bengaluru.

George visited the spot on Monday morning. A fire broke out at Kailash bar and restaurant in the Kalasipalyam–KR Market area in the wee hours of Monday morning killing the five people inside.

The police have identified the deceased as Swami (23), Prasad (20), and Mahesh (35), natives of Tumkur; Manjunath (45) and Keerthi (24) are the natives of Haasan and Mandya respectively.

Commissioner of Police T Suneel Kumar and Director General of Fire and Emergency Services M N Reddi have visited the spot.

Post-mortem of the bodies was done at Victoria Hospital and the bodies were handed over to the family members of the victims.

The police have registered a case and are investigating the cause for the fire.
