Karnataka: 43 elephants died due to electrocution in last 5 years

Bengaluru: As many as 100 elephants died due to unnatural causes in the last five years. Among them, 43 died due to electrocution.

According to information provided by Union Forest Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey in response to a query posed by Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, five elephants died in this period after being hit by a speeding train.

One elephant was poisoned.

According to the data, in the year 2017-18, a total number of 10 elephants were electrocuted. 2018-19 (9), 2019-20 (8), 2020-21 (9), and in the year 2021-22 7 elephants were electrocuted.
