Karnataka BJP Accuses Congress of Vendetta in Yediyurappa POCSO Case

Bs Yediyurappa

The Karnataka BJP criticized the Congress-led state government, alleging it was engaging in vindictive politics by pursuing a POCSO case against former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa. This move, they claimed, was retaliation for a defamation case involving Rahul Gandhi.

A significant development occurred when a special court in Bengaluru issued a non-bailable warrant against Yediyurappa in connection with the POCSO case, which accuses him of sexual harassment of a minor.

Addressing reporters, former BJP national General Secretary C.T. Ravi questioned Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, accusing him of hypocrisy for previously denouncing hatred-driven politics while now engaging in it. Ravi highlighted public concerns over the government’s inaction for four months after the case was filed against Yediyurappa, despite earlier statements from Home Minister G. Parameshwara dismissing the case’s significance.

Ravi emphasized that the timing of actions against Yediyurappa coincided with Rahul Gandhi’s legal troubles, implying a political agenda. While affirming their respect for the court’s decision, Ravi alleged a conspiracy orchestrated by Congress leaders to target BJP figures.

Additionally, BJP MLC N. Ravikumar dismissed the allegations against Yediyurappa, citing statements from Home Minister Parameshwara that the complainant had a history of filing numerous cases against public figures and was mentally challenged. Ravikumar criticized the sudden government action after months of dormancy and accused Congress leaders of following directives from their party’s hierarchy.

In conclusion, BJP MLC Chalawadi Narayanaswamy condemned the government’s actions, labeling them as highly objectionable given the circumstances and recent political tensions.
