Bengaluru: In the by-poll election for the Belagavi Parliamentary Constituency, BJP candidate Mangala Angadi defeated Congress candidate Satish Jarikiholi on Sunday.
Following the death of former Union Minister Suresh Angadi, a by-poll election was held in the constituency. Suresh’s wife Mangala ran for the seat for the BJP, while former minister Satish Jarikiholi ran for the Congress.
Satish retained his lead in the vote counting until the 12th stage of the counting. Mangala then took the lead and went on to win the election in a tight race.
