Bengaluru: Senior artists such as Doddanna, Srinivasa Murthy, MS Umesh are among the few who have been chosen for the annual Karnataka Chalanchitra Academy ( KCA) awards.
A total of 15 artists who have served the Kananda film industry in different areas and contributed towards its development have been chosen for the awards instituted by KCA and Information and Public Relations department, said Academy Chairman SV Rajendra Singh Babu at a press conference on Monday.
He said that at a meeting convened on February 26, artists from various fields such as direction, production, acting, photography, film literature among others were selected as winners.
The award will carry a cash prize of Rs 50,000 each along with a citation. The awards will be presented at a function on March 3 at Town Hall in Bengaluru at 6 pm.
The awards will be given away by former Minister and popular actor Ambareesh and the event is expected to grace by artists such as Umashree, V Ravichandran, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan among others.
Winners
The awards winners are actor Srinivasa Murthy (P Nagendra Rao award), actor M S Umesh ( TN Balakrishna award), actor S Doddanna (Thoogudeepa Srinivas award) , Director K V Raju (BR Panthalu award), producer C Jayaram (Shankarsingh award), actor Aadavaani Lakshmidevi ( MV Rajamma award ), film literateur BL Venu ( Hunasuru Krishnamurthy award).
The other winners are film distributor Kumar Shettar (B Jayamma award), film distributor Paal S Chandani (N Veeraswamy award), singer B K Sumitra (G V Iyer award), Photographer SV Srikanth (BS Ranga award), actor BV Radha (Pandaribhai award), Devi ( MP Shankar award) in film technology film crew worker N L Ramanna (Shankar Nag award) and regional filmmaker Ram Shetty ( K N Tailor award).
