Bengaluru: As the number of corona virus cases hit 20, Karnataka state government announced the sealing of state borders, on Sunday.
Chief Minister BS Yedyurappa said that free ration will be given to all those who avail essential commodities through the Public Distribution System in the state. The ration for two months will be given in one go, the CM announced.
Addressing the media on Sunday, the Chief Minister also said that people need not stock up things fearing lockdown.
Talking further, the CM said that Bengaluru’s Victoria Hospital, with 1,700 beds, will be dedicated for the treatment of COVID-19 and people with and without symptoms will also be tested.
“With permission from the Indian Council of Medical Research, we decided to include private and government hospitals for lab testing,” Yediyurappa said.
The government has made some important announcements including postponement of SSLC examination. Pre-University or PU-II exams, scheduled to be held on Monday, will go on as planned.
The state has started screening of domestic passengers will be started at all the airports in the state.
The government also directed people to refrain from moving from cities to villages for the next 15 days.
