Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has announced an extension for the installation of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) for all vehicles registered before April 1, 2019. As per a new notification issued by the Transport Department on October 30, 2024, vehicle owners now have until November 30, 2024, to comply with this requirement.

Previously, the deadlines for HSRP installation were set under various notifications, with the latest due date being February 16, 2024. This new notification supersedes the previous timeline, providing vehicle owners additional time to ensure their vehicles meet the HSRP standards.

The move to extend the deadline is expected to provide relief to vehicle owners across the state, allowing them more time to secure the tamper-proof, secure license plates aimed at reducing vehicle theft and improving road safety.

The notification was issued by Pushpa V.S., Under Secretary to the Government of Karnataka, Transport Department. It is intended to be published in the Karnataka Gazette and is distributed to all relevant departments, including the Transport Commissioner, the police, and regional transport offices.

Vehicle owners are encouraged to take advantage of this extended period to comply with the HSRP requirement, which enhances security and aligns with national standards for vehicle registration plates.
