Karnataka extends lockdown till May 19

Bengaluru: Awaiting new central guidelines, the Karnataka government has extended the lockdown for two more days till May 19, according to an official, here on Sunday.

“The lockdown has been extended across the state for two days from Monday till May 19 as new guidelines from the central government are awaited,” said Karnataka Chief Secretary T.M Vijay Bhaskar in a letter in Kannada to the Deputy Commissioners and the police superintendent of all the 30 districts.

The third 14-day lockdown was enforced on May 4 till May 17 after the second 18-day lockdown lapsed on May 3. The first lockdown was enforced on the midnight of March 24 for 21 days till April 14 to contain the coronavirus spread across the country.

The Chief Secretary asked the officials to ensure that all the lockdown norms were strictly enforced till further order or till May 19 midnight.
