Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reaffirmed that the Karnataka government will not observe a holiday on Monday for the Ayodhya Ram Mandir ‘pran pratishtha ceremony,’ despite increasing pressure from the Opposition BJP and JD(S). The CM highlighted that the Muzrai Department would oversee special rituals at all state-run temples during the event. Responding to media queries in Tumakuru today, Siddaramaiah mentioned, “Tomorrow, I am inaugurating a new Ram Temple constructed at Mahadevapura constituency in Bengaluru.” Notably, government schools in the state will remain open on January 22.
In a retort to BJP Karnataka president B Y Vijayendra’s suggestion that the Congress government might be responsible for potential disruptions during the Ram Temple inauguration, Siddaramaiah criticized the statement, denoting it as “threatening and provocative.” Vijayendra’s expressed concerns about possible disturbances affecting societal peace were met with disapproval from the Chief Minister.
