Karnataka’s Home Minister, G. Parameshwara, has responded strongly to recent criticism of Bengaluru’s traffic conditions, asserting that the city is ahead of others like Ahmedabad in leveraging technology for traffic management. His remarks came in reply to Siddharth Dialani, co-founder of BharatAgri, who had praised Ahmedabad for its smoother traffic and better roads, while criticizing Bengaluru’s chaotic traffic and poor infrastructure.

Parameshwara acknowledged the challenges Bengaluru faces with traffic but emphasized the city’s long-standing technological innovations, such as the signal timing system that has been in place since 1973. He compared this to Ahmedabad’s relatively newer system and highlighted Bengaluru’s ongoing efforts to integrate artificial intelligence and other tech solutions for improved traffic flow.

Dialani had specifically pointed out the absence of functioning timers on Bengaluru’s traffic lights, which he believes adds to driver frustration. In his defense, Parameshwara assured that the Bengaluru Traffic Police are constantly working to improve coordination with other civic agencies to upgrade road designs and infrastructure.
