The BJP has selected former minister C.T. Ravi, sitting MLC N. Ravikumar, and party leader Dr. M.G. Muley as their nominees. Meanwhile, sources from the Janata Dal (Secular) indicate that the party will likely announce its candidate on Monday.

The Congress Party has yet to announce its candidates for the seven seats it is expected to contest. Given the current composition of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, the Congress can nominate seven candidates, while the BJP-JD(S) alliance can put forward four candidates. The Assembly comprises 133 Congress MLAs, 66 BJP MLAs, and 19 JD(S) MLAs. Additionally, the Congress claims the support of four more MLAs, including two independents.

Congress insiders have hinted that their candidate list might be disclosed by this evening. It is reported that Yathindra Siddaramaiah, the son of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, is a confirmed candidate, with Science and Technology Minister N.S. Boseraju also likely to be included.
