Bengaluru: After declaring a 14-day lockdown in the state, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa empowered the Deputy Commissioners to take strict measures in their respective districts to control the spread of Covid-19 on Monday, April 26.
CM said that the DCs will have to take strict measures, while the Tahsildars will act as nodal officers, in order to stop the spread of the Coronavirus.
The CM also urged citizens to cooperate with authorities, saying that if they do, “we can achieve our target”.
Earlier, the state government announced a lockdown that would take effect from April 27. The lockdown will prohibit all commercial activities with the exception of essential services, and public transportation, including KSRTC, Metro, and BMTC, will be suspended during the lockdown.
