The Karnataka Lokayukta launched a major anti-corruption drive on Thursday, conducting simultaneous raids across multiple locations in the state. The operations targeted officials from municipal bodies and civic departments suspected of financial irregularities and misconduct.

Raids were carried out in Bengaluru, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Anekal, Gadag, Dharwad, Kalaburagi, and Belagavi, with officials confirming that the investigation is focused on cases of alleged corruption.

Those under scrutiny include Prakash, Assistant Engineer at BBMP Govindrajnagar; Dr. S. Pradeep, Associate Director of Organic Farming; Latha Mani and K.G. Amarnath, both senior officials at Anekal Town Municipality; Dhruvaraj, Town Inspector in Gadag; and Ashok Valsand, Engineer at the Malaprabha Project in Dharwad. Other key names include Mallikarjun Alipur, former RDPR Engineer in Kalaburagi, and Ramchandra, Panchayat Development Officer. A raid was also conducted at the residence of Ashok Vasanad, Chief Engineer in Belagavi.

In a separate late-night operation, Bengaluru Police raided several bars and restaurants in the city’s West Zone, acting on credible intelligence of illegal activities. Eleven special teams inspected establishments in Upparpet, Cottonpet, Kalasipalya, Cubbon Park, and Ashoknagar.

At least 19 establishments were found violating rules — including unauthorised employment of women, poor hygiene, absence of female security, illegal smoking areas, and operating past legal hours. Women were allegedly seen dressed inappropriately and standing close to patrons.

Authorities have promised strict legal action against all offenders.
