Karnataka Media Academy to honour journalists

Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Media Academy will honour 15 journalists from the state recognising their contribution in the field of journalism during 2016.

Media Academy Chairman M Siddaraju, in a press release said, the awardees will receive Rs 20,000 in cash and a plaque at a special function.

The list of awardees:

1. H R Sreesha, Senior journalist–Bengaluru.
2. Hemanthkumar, Indian Express–Bengaluru
3. Shantala Dharmaraj, Samyuktha Karnataka–Mysuru
4. K H Chandru, photographer–Mysuru
5. Ronald Fernandes, Deccan Herald–Mangaluru
6.Siddiqui Aldoori, Senior Journalist–Chikkamagaluru
7.G Veeranna, Vijayavani–Ballari
8.Cheeni Purushotham, Udayavani–Tumkur
9.A C Prabhakar, Mysure Mitra–Chamarajanagar
10.Ujjini Rudrappa, Kannada Prabha–Koppal
11.Ramaswamy, Ee Sanje–Ramanagar
12.Shankerappa Husanappa Chalavadi, Hucha Patrike–Bagalkote
13.Nagaraja Sunagara, Udaya TV–Dharwad
14.Anil Kumar Hosamani, Bahujananayaka-Vijayapura
15.Malathesha Angoora, Kaurava Patrike–Haveri

“Andolana” award is bagged by Shivamogga Times for its contribution in district news category.

C G Rajiv from Vijaya Karnataka has won the ‘’Mysuru Diganta” award for his writing on “humanitarian issues”, in his work titled “Enne Nammooranne Nasha Madtha ide.”

Chandrashekar More from Udayavani won the “Abhimani” award for the best writing on “social issues”, in his work titled “Sankastadalli Kaujalagi Ningamma Parijatha Company.”

Dr B R Ambedkar Mookanayaka award, will be given to Dr Nataraj Huliar, columnist for highlighting the issues of the downtrodden.

“Aragini” award, for the best cinema journalism, will be presented to Snehapriya Nagaraj.

These and few awards will carry a cash prize of Rs 10,000, citation and memento.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is likely to give away the awards at a special function to be held in the capital in the presence of other dignitaries later this year.
