Bengaluru: State Minister for Minor Irrigation, Science, and Technology, NS Boseraju, unveiled plans for the establishment of Nehru Stream (STREAM) labs in schools across Karnataka during a state-level National Science Day event. The initiative aims to impart new skills to students and promote research-based, hands-on learning experiences.

Boseraju emphasized the mission of the proposed Nehru Stream Labs to nurture curiosity, stimulate creativity, and ignite imagination in young learners. These labs will provide a conducive environment for students to engage in discussions, conduct research, and devise solutions to real-world problems. Additionally, a curriculum focused on developing 21st-century skills will be integrated into lab exercises.

Designed as laboratory spaces, Nehru Stream Labs will offer hands-on experiments to help students gain practical experience and proficiency in various skills. Minister Boseraju outlined the objective of enabling students to work with tools and equipment to understand the interdisciplinary nature of STREAM (Science, Technology, Robotics, Environment and Ecology, Astronomy, and Mathematics) subjects.

National Science Day celebrations included students taking a pledge to cultivate a scientific mindset and uphold humanitarian values. Minister Boseraju commended the government’s initiatives aimed at promoting scientific temper and rationality under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraja Horatti emphasized India’s scientific accomplishments and urged students to aspire towards similar achievements. He advocated for the emergence of more scientists and cited past initiatives aimed at promoting scientific education.

Higher Education Minister Dr MC Sudhakar highlighted the indispensable role of science and technology in shaping the world. He celebrated India’s international reputation in these fields and announced plans to establish science centers at the district level.

Minister for Primary Education, Madhu Bangarappa, stressed the government’s responsibility to support students across the state and mentioned initiatives like setting up tinkering labs and providing essential utilities.

To mark National Science Day, students pledged their commitment to fostering a scientific mindset and humanitarian values, reinforcing the significance of scientific education in Karnataka.
